Here are some Glances over the event that happened on February 16 In Pelham Lab High School regarding black history month commemoration.

A brief overview of a Black History commemoration event held by students and faculty of Pelham Lab HS
On February 16th, 2023 Pelham Lab High School hosted a Black History event hosted by Ms. McFall with the purpose of commemorating black history and the contributions of Black Americans.
In the words of Ms. McFall, the hostess of this event, “Black History month open mic, open forum show was a celebration of influential people, places and history of people of colored race.”
Additionally, she said, “This event showcased cultural foods, art, dance, and music giving a platform of expression not only to the students but also the Pelham Lab administration.”
Owen Lin, an 11th grade student in Pelham Lab HS that attended the event stated, “The event was an engaging one as all the events were entertaining and the choreography was nice to look at. The art was creative and the food was delicious. The room was organized and well presented.”
As Lin has described, the creativity of the room design, the food, and the performances were all what made the event so successful.
Adrian Aleman, another 11th grade student that attended the event remarked that, “The dancers worked very hard during practice, and yes there were some mistakes made but everyone had fun!”
Students performed multiple different dances including a traditional African dance with matching attire in order to represent African heritage.
“I felt happy being united with the community,” says Krystel Martinez, one of the performers for the African dance.
